House Republicans are planning to strategize with President-elect Trump on their path forward to funding the government past the current Dec. 20 deadline, leaders of the conference said on Tuesday.

Republicans will keep control of the House of Representatives, the Associated Press has projected, giving President-elect Trump a majority in both houses of Congress. House Speaker Mike Johnson has said he will work aggressively to implement Trump’s agenda,

Republicans won the majority in the Senate earlier this week, while Donald Trump won the race for the presidency. The trifecta, last achieved at the start of Trump's first term in 2017, will give the President-elect significant authority to enact his agenda on the economy,

Republicans held on to their narrow majority in the US House, giving Donald Trump and his party unified control of the elected branches of government and limiting potential curbs on the incoming president’s power.

House Republicans are slated to elect a leadership team, including re-nominating Mike Johnson for speaker, and meet with President-elect Donnld Trump.

With the GOP retaining control of the House, Trump will enjoy a trifecta for at least the first two years of his term.
